Insulating Jackets and Vortex-Tube Cooler Kits for High-Temperature Scanner Applications
In high ambient temperature environments, the cooling air applied to the scanner's 3/8” port may struggle to maintain the scanner's temperature within published operational limits. An effective solution involves installing the scanner within an insulating jacket and air-purging the space between the jacket and the scanner.
The flexible, quilted jackets are designed to wrap around the scanner securely using hook & loop seam fasteners. The jackets feature designated holes for scanner cable entry, 1" sight-pipe entry, and vortex-tube cooling air access. Additionally, a rear flap allows users to view the back of the scanner when necessary.
These insulating jackets are designed for compatibility with various InSight I and InSight II scanner models, providing temperature control and protection in demanding conditions:

For additional cooling, the Vortex-Tube Cooler Kit (P/N 60-2720) offers an efficient way to generate and distribute chilled air between the insulating jacket and scanner. The vortex tube uses ordinary compressed air to create a "cool" air stream that lowers the internal scanner temperature and expels a "warm" air stream.
The vortex tube splits the compressed air into two streams:
The cooling effect will depend on the pressure and temperature of the supplied compressed air. While the air temperature drop will be significant, the scanner's internal temperature reduction will be slightly less.
Using the insulating jackets in combination with the Vortex-Tube Cooler Kit ensures reliable performance for scanners operating in high-temperature environments. These solutions protect your investment and maintain optimal scanner functionality in challenging applications.
